Capacity is only the first check
Choose a hose reel by its complete operating specification, not just how many feet it holds. Confirm hose size and length, working pressure, fluid and temperature compatibility, connections, and the exact parts included.
Reelcraft's CA6000 H listing illustrates the distinction: it lists capacity for 50 feet of 3/8-inch hose, but says hose is not included. Hannay's 1500 Series tables also show different storage lengths for different hose sizes. A capacity figure is not a ready-to-use hose assembly.
Read the inlet and outlet separately
The CA6000 H specification lists a 3/8-inch female NPT inlet and a 1/4-inch female NPT outlet. Those entries are separate from its 3/8-inch hose-capacity label.
Before ordering, ask for the complete connection path: supply hose, swivel, outlet, working hose and any adapters. Record thread type and size rather than assuming everything matches the largest number in the product title. Reelcraft's FAQ also says flow depends on hose diameter, length, supply pressure and fluid; capacity alone does not establish flow performance.
Specify the configuration you are buying
Hannay lists standard 1500 Series pressure capability up to 3,000 PSI and says higher-pressure versions must be specified. That makes an option on a product-family page different from a confirmed rating for the unit in a quote.
Our buying checklist is to request the exact model, ordered pressure option, compatible fluid, operating temperature, port details and included hose. Have the supplier resolve conflicting specifications before purchase. None of the examples here establishes that a reel is suitable for a 10 US GPM setup.
Check mounting and service instructions
Read the manual for the actual reel before installation. Reelcraft's April 2026 Series 80000 pressure-wash manual requires proper installation before connecting hoses and warns against exceeding the reel's maximum working pressure.
For that series, the manual calls for removing system pressure before servicing, when a leak occurs, or when the reel stops unwinding or rewinding. It warns against jerking a stalled hose and identifies a high-tension spring inside. Follow the model's service procedure or use qualified service; a short buying guide is not a spring-repair manual.
