A railway gateway gets specialist attention

In a September 24, 2026 announcement, Stuttgart described Kärcher's cleaning of protected railway bridge portals in Bad Cannstatt, Germany. The bridge spans König-Karl-Straße and dates from 1912–1914. Its stonework includes prominent city coats of arms.

The city said bridge owner Deutsche Bahn covered the scaffolding costs and described the cleaning as part of Kärcher's cultural sponsorship. Kärcher's September 23 press-index entry said the cleaning was free.

Small trials came before the method choice

According to the city, Kärcher tested small areas and coordinated with the state heritage authority before selecting methods. Steam-stage hot-water cleaning addressed biological growth such as algae and fungi; particle blasting addressed graffiti paint.

Those details describe a specialist project on particular historic stonework. The September announcement discussed work then in progress; it does not establish a verified completion date for this article.

The useful question comes before the equipment

WashWiki's editorial takeaway is a planning question: who needs to agree on the result and the method before work begins? On an unusual property, clarify the material, existing condition, access and any required approvals before treating the job as a routine wash.

A proposed test area can help focus that discussion. Ask what it is intended to demonstrate, who will assess it and what would change the plan. The goal is an agreed scope suited to the actual property, with appropriate expertise where needed.
