Why paint fails early on the First Coast

Coastal paint takes a beating most of the country never sees. Salt air works on the film from the day it's applied. Humidity keeps surfaces damp long after a rain. And the Florida sun doesn't fade paint so much as bake it, especially on south and west elevations. That's why prep is the job, not a step before the job.

Paint is only as good as what's under it. We soft wash first to kill the mildew at the root instead of painting over it. Then we scrape and sand wherever the old film has failed, prime the bare spots, and only then coat. Skip any of that and the new paint looks great in March and tired by next summer. Done right, a First Coast exterior finish can hold for years.
