Why a roof can develop dark streaks
Algae can cause dark roof discoloration, especially in humid conditions. Other marks, moss, debris, and coating problems may look different and should be assessed rather than diagnosed from color alone.
The method must fit the roof
ARMA advises against power washing asphalt shingles. Safe Touch uses a zero-pressure application approach and reviews the roof manufacturer’s cleaning requirements. Tile, shingle, and coated metal surfaces are not treated as interchangeable.

Gutters, drainage, plant beds, ponds, outlets, and adjacent finishes need a preparation plan. Tell us about sensitive landscaping and collection systems before treatment is agreed.
Cleaning is not a repair or warranty renewal
A clean roof can look better, but cleaning does not replace damaged roofing or fix a leak. We do not promise a cooler attic, a renewed warranty, or a fixed service life from a wash. Ask for the proposed method in writing and check it against the roof’s documentation.
What helps us quote the work
Ground-level photographs, the material, approximate roof size, height, pitch, access limits, and any HOA notice help us understand the scope. Do not climb onto the roof to take pictures.
