Ball valve (flow control)

Cheap, unglamorous, and the thing that gives you instant control of flow where you stand. Every pro rig should have one.

A ball valve is a quarter-turn shutoff on the high-pressure line — usually between the pump output or gun and the hose or surface cleaner. One flick and water is on or off, instead of you walking back to the machine.

In the field this matters more than it sounds. When you are moving a surface cleaner across a big driveway, or you need to swap a tip or move a hose, being able to kill flow right at your hand saves water, saves time, and keeps you from spraying something you did not mean to.

The only rule is suitability: use a ball valve rated for your system's pressure, and keep an unloader and relief in the system as the real pressure protection. The ball valve is for control, not as your safety device.

Hands-on entry: it is a small part we use on every job. No score — it is simply a piece of gear we would not run a rig without.
